Und bald ist wieder Weihnachten / Soon Christmas is here again

The whole christmas thing is not really my thing. First you decorate everything (so that the kids don't reach it of course, which is rather impossible) and after only one month you take everything down again. I got to set up an advent wreath at least. Must be enough for this year.
There is one good thing with christmas though: food! Gingerbread, christmas cookies, Weihnachtsstollen (German christmas speciality), duck...
I haven't found the time yet to do big christmas baking and you can not buy ducks in the stores here. Only geese. So we'll probably eat goose this christmas. And Grandma made christmas cookies with the kids.
Since the beginning of november Tim and I both work 50%. One is always at home and one is working. This is quite nice. After a hard day with the kids you can go to work the next day and relax a little bit. Kids are simply made for extendes families and not for one person looking after them the whole time. I often wish to have a whole bunch of grannies, grandpas, uncles and aunts here. Would make things much easier. That's why I'm looking forward to having an au-pair, which we are looking for just now and hoping to have for one year, beginning April/May next year.

Schade trotzdem. Hier zwei von unserer verbleibenden Hühnerbande:

Today an unknown beast killed one of our chickens. All the other chicken are fine and have found their way back home. What a pitty though. The killed one was one of two that produced egg. Here are two of the remaining chickens:

Recently Johanna fell against a wall and got a laceration. Thanks to Steri-Strip everything is now fine again.

With a new trick from my mother my last bread baking (sour dough bread) was a real success. It got much bigger than usual.
